Irish Life GAA Healthy Club Programme
St. Brigids GAA, Killashee – Proud to Be a GAA Healthy Club – Healthy Club Award
St. Brigids GAA, Killashee are proud to have achieved Healthy Club Award status as part of the Irish Life GAA Healthy Club Programme. This milestone reflects the commitment and hard work of our dedicated Healthy Club Committee, and while we’ve achieved a lot, there’s always more to do.
What is the Healthy Club Programme?
The Irish Life GAA Healthy Club Programme is the GAA’s flagship health and wellbeing initiative. It supports clubs in promoting physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing both within the club and across the wider community.
It has the following three aims:
- Initiate new health-promoting activities that directly address local needs,
- Mainstream best practice healthy behaviours across the core business (Gaelic Games) of the club (e.g. around alcohol, diet, substances and mental health),
- Provide a framework for formalising existing health promotion activities that are in line with the programme goals.
The programme has 6 health and wellbeing priority areas:

Physical Activity

Diversity and Inclusion

Community Development

Mental Fitness

Substance Use and Gambling

Healthy Eating
